Building Long-Lasting, Trusting Partnerships Between Dogs and Their People
At Noble Canine Training, we’re more than your dog’s trainer. We’re also your teacher and support system. We know putting your best friend’s wellbeing — and leash — in someone else’s hands isn’t easy. That’s why our goal is to earn your dog’s trust — and yours, too. Learn more about us below, then let us know how we can help you and your dog grow together.
Training Philosophy
Our balanced approach allows us to look at the whole dog and personalize a training plan that fits their unique needs. We use the rules, tools, and techniques that complement both of you and give you the motivation, confidence, and clarity you need to succeed.
Here are our training pillars
Foundation
We prefer long-term success over quick fixes. Before doing any behavioural modification work, we spend time building trust and communication through the following:
- Rules & Boundaries
- Engagement
- Marker System
- Basic Commands Built With Positive Reinforcement
- Appropriate Socialization
- Confidence-Building Exercises
Relationship
The most important part of training your dog is training you. We’ll help evaluate your current relationship, break unhealthy patterns, and create a true partnership.
Our sessions may end, but training never stops. We transfer our skills and knowledge to you with go-home sessions, post-lesson support, and a take-home manual so you can grab the leash and take the lead.
Communication
Our training approach gives us access to all quadrants of operant conditioning. Being able to say both “yes” and “no” leads to powerfully-clear communication that reduces confusion and stress for both of you.
After we’ve built a strong foundation, we may introduce tools such as the prong or e-collar to take training to the next level.
Fulfillment
All work and no play? No, thanks. Dogs need to be physically, mentally, and emotionally fulfilled to live happily and healthily. Here are some of the ways we do that:
- Proper Exercise
- Play
- Enrichment
- Having fun!
Our Toolbox
Every dog is different. That’s why tool selection depends on the individual in front of us. No
matter what we choose, all tools are introduced and used with care.
Here are some we love and why.
Meet the Trainer
Jenna Halliday
Jenna Halliday, Head Trainer and Owner of Noble Canine Training, has been working with animals for as long as she can remember.
Her training career started on horse farms, in dog kennels, and at the pet store where she worked. Then, in 2008, she dove deeper — literally — when she was hired as a trainer’s assistant at Marineland. There, she worked with dolphins, sea lions, walruses, beluga whales, and more.
Later, she gained more hands-on dog experience by volunteering with several shelters and animal rescues, where she helped with dog walking, coordination, fostering, adoption, and training. These roles not only exposed her to the needs of many types of difficult dogs, but also to working with the humans who loved them.
An insatiable learner, Jenna is constantly expanding her education to ensure she is up-to-date with the latest training techniques. In addition to videos, workshops, and books, she has also completed training courses and shadow programs with some of the best trainers in the industry, including Michael Ellis’ Principles of Dog Training and 1-on-1 mentoring with Amy Pishner of Valor K9.
Before opening Noble Canine Training in early 2020, she also connected with and studied under Nicole Mann of The Structured Canine, completing her Leash Walking Seminar and shadow program.
Born and raised in Haldimand County, Jenna currently resides there with her husband, daughter, bunny, 2 cats, and (of course) 2 dogs — Poppy and Qamilla.
